Meet the artist: Elise Rose
Elise Rose is a freelance Digital artist, photographer and DJ. Inspired by RPG video games and raves, her 3D digital art and alter ego avatar "NVR_MND" explore methods of escapism for marginalised communities through futuristic fantasy. We sat down to ask her a few questions following our collaboration on Issue 127's Centre Page Print:
What inspires your art?
I've always been inspired by RPGs and world building games. The fantasy element of creating your own character or worlds without restriction.
Rave culture, sexuality, sci- fi futurism. Most things with an element of escapism fantasy.
What is your favourite thing in your creative set up?
Physically I love the workspace in my home where I create my art. It's nice to have a calm space surrounded by art where I can focus and feel inspired.
What is your next goal?
Whilst there are amazing QTIPOC who are bridging the gap between art, gaming and powerful and necessary storytelling ( Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley and Huntrezz Janos being great examples), there’s still a huge lack of diversity in gaming and fantasy entertainment in general & I'd love for future bodies of work to contribute to a change in this mind set.
Most useful piece of advice you’ve been given?
Trust in the process.
Three things you’re loving at the minute?
- Pxssy Palace - Iconic club night in london for Queer women , Trans, Non Ninary and Intersex BIPOC
- Elden Ring
-
Dark0 - Eternity & ZERO2 albums - Perfect music to listen to whilst making fantasy game art.
